In Auvergne, between the massif of Mézenc and the plateau of Margeride; from the gorges of Loire or Allier by passing by Le Puy-en-Velay, the Haute-Loire offers many tours of walks and hikes. You will find easy walks, adapted for families and tours worthy of medium-altitude mountain’s trails.
You will find all the guide books of walks and hikes to discover the Haute-Loire. From the strolls and the plateaus of the Devès, between Loire and Allier, to the mountainous massifs of Mézenc (at the gates of Ardèche) or the Meygal, with its volcanic “sucs” (specific volcanoes of Massif Central). A rich heritage will lie before you with the town of Le Puy-en-Velay and its cathedral, the first castle of Loire, or the gorges of Allier and Chaise-Dieu’s abbeys.
Each guide includes between twenty and forty walks and easy or hard hikes. Territory of medium-altitude mountain, the Haute-Loire will suit you, either you are “family walk” or “challenging hike”. Every walk is detailed on IGN maps and precisely described. You will find thematic records about the fauna and flora, the landscapes, the environment and heritage.
The starts of the hikes are indicated by a sign. Once at the departure point, with the guide book in your pocket…let yourself be guided by the yellow markings. A large number of tracks are approved Respirando®, guarantee of paths belonging to the public domain, markings of quality, as less as asphalt as possible, etc…
